New Japanese Paper Curtains by Takumi
Takumi will showcase panel curtains and vertical blinds featuring innovative paper designs at the Comfortex trade show for interior design in Leipzig from September 14–16 in Hall 5 at Booth I10.
Madoca, a high-quality Japanese paper, is produced specifically for sun protection applications; it is tear-resistant and is also available in a washable version. Takumi’s new Madoca curtain collection offers unprecedented design possibilities through the use of both traditional and modern paper finishing techniques.
Paper as Window Decorations
Japanese paper used as sun protection filters light without darkening the room and diffuses the sun’s rays in such a way that even dark rooms appear brighter. Finishes typical of paper, such as watermarks and folding techniques, evoke the papers’ Far Eastern origins without appearing folkloric, lending the curtain designs a unique character and an inimitable lightness.
Watermark on the window
Watermarks have always indicated the origin, authenticity, and value of special papers. The Watermark curtains are a completely new concept, emphasizing the interplay of light and shadow in Japanese papers through
areas of varying transparency featuring geometric and graphic patterns. By adapting the traditional watermark technique to panel curtains, surprising gradations of white tones and subtly nuanced translucencies are created. The elegant and understated Watermark panels blend seamlessly into both classic and modern interiors. The Watermark panels are manufactured in 6 base fabrics, with a maximum height of 3 m and a width of up to 95 cm.
Origami Panels as Curtains and Room Dividers
The curtains in the Origami collection feature folds created using the Japanese technique of the same name. The linear structure of the panel curtains and 250-mm vertical slats results in innovative surface designs that are only possible with paper. The three-dimensional Origami panels truly showcase their beauty when used as a standalone room divider, as a single accent panel in large window arrangements, or backlit as a light wall. As handcrafted, one-of-a-kind pieces, the origami curtains are available in heights of up to 4 m and widths of up to 95 cm, as well as in the form of 250 mm vertical slat curtains.
Takumi's panel curtains were selected for the TrendRaum in Hall 5 and will be showcased there during the trend workshops with Bernhard & Natalija Zimmermann.
