Partition made of 4 sliding shoji doors, with panels, solid pine


This shoji partition in a sunny Berlin apartment in an older building divides the large room into a living area and a dining room without blocking the light. The shoji sliding doors—actually a classic element of Japanese interior design—blend harmoniously into the European décor.

To complement the Berlin historic building, these shoji screens were crafted from Markish pine, featuring several distinctive artisanal details: All frame joints are constructed with mortise-and-tenon joints secured with wedges. The lower sections of the shoji screens feature solid pine panels with a vertical grain. The sliding frames are covered with shoji paper featuring a bamboo pattern.
